Leave Eureka Springs (an Ozark Mountain paradise) on Highway 23 S on The Pig Trail to enjoy the Ozark National Forest. Highway 23 S will connect to 74 E - this is prime location to view Eagles in the winter to the beginning of Spring. You will connect to 21 S in Kingston to take you into the Buffalo River - National Park Region. Breathtaking by all accounts, you can map side trips to famed sites such as Hawks Bill Crag, Twin (Triple) Falls, Lost Valley and Hemmed in Hollow. 23 connects to 43N where you experience the Arkansas Grand Canyon and and the views of Gaither Mountain. This section of the Ozark Moonshine Run is an unofficial local favorite and has been used since the days of prohibition. Not much to eat along the way so we suggest a stop in Ponca or to make it to Harrison for John Paul's Restaurant and Gathering (870) 741 -2321. The trip back to Eureka Springs is highlighted with a side trip via 221 which takes you over the Kings River and into Eureka Springs the scenic route.
The travel time can vary from six to eight hours, depending on how long you spend gazing in awe at the sights.
